• Begin by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water to prevent the spread of germs.
• Choose the appropriate site for venipuncture and make sure the patient is comfortable and relaxed.
• Clean the selected site with an alcohol swab and let it dry.
• Assemble the Blood Drawing Kit, making sure to follow the instructions provided with the kit.
• If needed, apply the tourniquet to the upper arm to help locate the vein.
• Insert the needle into the vein at the selected site, being sure to follow the instructions provided with the kit.
• Allow the blood to flow into the collection tubes or other containers provided in the kit.
• Once the blood sample has been collected, remove the needle from the vein and apply pressure to the site with a cotton ball or gauze.
