Monaghan AeroChamber Mini Aerosol Holding Chamber is a new and unique device, designed to deliver pMDI aerosols to patients in conjunction with mechanical ventilation, manual resuscitation bag and standard aerosol resuscitation mask. It is comprised of an anti-static, dual chamber design. The patented exhalation channel has one way valve that preserves aerosol dose and minimizes dead space.

How to use Mini Aerosol Holding Chamber?

Instructions For Use With Resuscitation Bag:

  • If using a GlaxoSmithKline MDI canister equipped with an integrated dose counter, remove the Canister Adapter from the unit. For all other canisters leave white Canister Adapter in port.
  • Attach the resuscitation bag to the AeroChamber mini HC.
  • Shake the MDI canister immediately before use as per the instructions supplied with the MDI.
  • Insert the MDI canister into the Canister Port of the AeroChamber mini HC.
  • Dsconnect the patients endotracheal or tracheal tube from the ventilator circuit. Immediately attach the Monaghan AeroChamber mini HC to the endotracheal or tracheal tube and re-establish ventilatory support. The arrow on the device should always point towards the patient and the Canister Port must be on top as shown.
  • While holding the MDI canister vertically, depress the MDI. Immediately deliver a manual breath by squeezing the resuscitation bag. Administer one puff at a time to achieve the prescribed number of doses.
  • Following treatment, disconnect the AeroChamber mini HC from patient and reconnect ventilator circuit to patients endotracheal or tracheal tube. Return the AeroChamber mini HC to its protective bag.

Instructions For Use In Ventilator Circuit:

  • Remove the Canister Adapter from the device if you're using a GlaxoSmithKline MDI canister that has a built-in dose counter. Leave the white Canister Adapter in the port for all other canisters.
  • As per the directions included with the MDI, shake the MDI canister right before use.
  • Place the MDI canister into the AeroChamber tiny HC's Canister Port.
  • Disconnect the patient's endotracheal airway's connection to the ventilator circuit. Re-establish ventilatory assistance right away by fastening the AeroChamber small HC's one end to the patient's endotracheal tube and the other end to the wye vent circuit. The Canister Port must be on top as illustrated and the arrow on the device must always point in the direction of the patient
  • Before starting inspiration, fully depress the MDI while holding the canister of the MDI vertically. To administer the recommended number of dosages, take one puff at a time.
  • Wait before performing step 5 again as directed. Make that the patient is properly ventilated in between administering the required puffs. After treatment, remove the patient's AeroChamber small HC and re-connect the ventilator circuit to the patient's trachea or endotracheal tube. Put the AeroChamber small HC back in its sleeve.
